Lesson 2 — What your agent should know, and what it shouldn't

Lesson 2 of 3

Learn

An agent works from what you give it. That cuts both ways.

Too little, and it guesses — you saw this in Prompts That Work. Too much, and you have handed over things the job never needed. The working rule is the same one you would use with a new hire: give the job's information to the job. The booking agent gets the menu, the hours, the prices. It does not get your supplier contracts.

Where we stand, so you can decide with clear eyes: your conversations stay in your account until you delete them, we do not train models on your content, and what you build is yours to export or deploy elsewhere. That is the platform's side. The other side — choosing what to put in — is yours, and it deserves ten seconds of thought per agent, not anxiety. Most work information is fine. The habit is simply to notice what you are sharing, once, on purpose.

Build

For each agent, skim its instructions and any documents you have given it. One question: does the job need this? Remove what it does not. Add what it is missing.

⚡ Do

Write one line at the top of each agent's instructions describing its scope — "You handle bookings and menu questions for the café. Nothing else." Scope lines keep an agent from wandering, and they take twenty seconds.
